Health Rights Awareness Programme — Lilongwe Schools
The Centre for Policy and Reform in Health and Law (CPR) has commenced its Health Rights Awareness Programme in Lilongwe, with school-based activities underway in nine secondary schools. The work sits within the 2026 Girls Tournament – School Preparations Programme, taking health, rights and wellbeing conversations into participating schools alongside sporting preparations.
The programme opened on 29 September 2026 at Chimutu Secondary School in Area 18, Lilongwe, where CPR volunteers engaged learners on health rights, legal awareness, wellbeing and issues affecting young people.
Sessions continued on 30 September at Bwaila, Arthens, Chinsapo and Cherub secondary schools, then Mbinzi on 1 October and Dzuka on 2 October.
The work follows CPR’s call for volunteers among students and graduates in law, medicine, nursing, public health, social work and development studies, with female applicants particularly encouraged.
School-based activities are coordinated by Counsel Tracy Kabambe, Director of Partnerships and Programmes, together with CPR volunteers and the wider programme team.
Interactive sessions encourage learners to understand their rights, responsibilities and avenues for seeking help when facing health or rights-related challenges.
Nine Lilongwe secondary schools reached through multidisciplinary volunteer-led health rights engagements.
